衝撃的だった猟奇殺人犯の手記発売に騒然となっているが、話題の大きさに比例するかのように売り上げは好調だと言う。
そんな酒鬼薔薇の出社から現在までの生活ぶりが明らかになった。
酒鬼薔薇の出所後の生活ぶり
1998年3月から関東医療少年院に入ったAには、そこで精神科医3人と統括官1人による「育て直し」教育が施された。これは、精神科医や統括官がそれぞれ父、母、兄などの“模擬家族”を演じ、文字通りAを「赤ちゃんから育て直す」という徹底した矯正教育だった。
「この手法はAにも功を奏し、一時は母役を演じた女性医師に恋心を抱くまでになりました。破壊衝動と性的快感が結びついていた事件当時と比べ、徐々に通常の思春期男性の精神状態に近づいて行ったんです」（法務省関係者）
2001年になると被害者遺族への謝罪を口にするようになったというAは、2004年3月、法務省に「再犯の可能性はない」と判断され、仮退院する。
